Background:

Kevin was born on the 27th October 1975 and was 49 years old at the time of his death.  Kevin lived in Balbriggan with his wife Úna and two daughters, Erin and Aoife.  Kevin was a huge Dublin hurling fan and a member of O’Dwyer’s GAA Club.  Kevin left the Garda College on the 25th September 1998 and served in Pearse Street, Blanchardstown and finally DMR Roads Policing Division, Dublin Castle. 

Circumstances:

On the Sunday morning of the 11th May 2025, Kevin paraded for duty in Dublin Castle and following parade, went out to perform proactive Roads Policing patrols across the DMR just like every other day.  Shortly before 1pm, Kevin was performing a speed checkpoint at Lanestown, North County Dublin when he attempted to stop a speeding motorcyclist.  The motorcyclist failed to stop and struck Kevin causing him fatal injuries.
