Vulnerable Road Users

As a pedestrian, cyclist or e-scooterist, you are one of our most vulnerable road users. To stay safe, it is crucial to be aware of your surroundings, especially with the shorter days and darker evenings.

While all road users have a responsibility to keep themselves and others safe, it is important for vulnerable to be cognisant of your own personal safety and take steps to be as safe as possible at all times.

  • Be aware of your surroundings
  • Use safety equipment where appropriate
  • Wear high visibility clothing – especially in poorly lit areas
  • Think ahead, be observant
  • Use appropriate cycle tracks where provided
  • Don’t use vehicles on footpaths.
  • Don’t travel in a manner that is dangerous to other road users
  • Never cross the road between traffic
