RequesterDescription Or RequestDecision

Decision Details

Public

Original Request:
Under the Freedom of Information Act 2014, I request access to all administrative, financial, procurement and purchasing records relating to Garda custody record books for the period [insert dates].
This request includes, but is not limited to:
Purchase orders, invoices, receipts and payment records for custody record books;
Procurement records, supplier details and tender documentation relating to custody record books;
Records relating to paper custody registers, detention logs, prisoner record books, custody charge sheets, and associated custody documentation used in Garda stations;
Internal correspondence regarding procurement, replacement, stock management or expenditure on such custody books;
Any records showing annual expenditure totals by station, division or nationally.
For clarity, this request relates only to administrative, finance and procurement records, which fall within the scope of Part 1(n) of Schedule 1 of the FOI Act as applicable to An Garda Síochána. Garda confirms that finance and procurement records are within FOI scope.
If the request is considered too broad, I would be grateful if you would assist in refining it rather than refusing it.
I request the records in electronic format where possible.
Yours faithfully,

This is stronger because Garda custody records themselves are operational, but finance and procurement records are FOI-accessible, while An Garda Síochána is only partially included under FOI for administrative HR/finance/procurement matters.
