Since early May 2026, Gardaí in the DMR East Division have undertaken extensive operations under Operation Táirge, an intelligence-led initiative targeting both retail crime and organised retail crime (ORC). Working in close collaboration with local retailers and business groups across southeast Dublin, Gardaí have sustained efforts to identify suspects, initiate prosecutions and bring offenders before the courts. This has included the establishment of a dedicated unit.
As part of phase 3 of Operation Táirge in DMR East, a total of 42 individuals (27 males/ 15 females) are charged to appear before Dun Laoghaire District Court on 25th September 2026 to face a range of charges relating to retail theft and associated offences.
In addition, fourteen (14) juvenile offenders have been referred to the Youth Diversion Programme in accordance with the Childrens Act 2001.
Further during this phase of Operation Táirge, DME East a total of 21 Bench Warrants have been executed.
