On Tuesday 22nd September 2026, An Garda Síochána from the Limerick Division conducted a multi-agency operation. Over 35 members of An Garda Síochána took part in the Day of Action which comprised the Limerick County Community Engagement Functional Area, the Limerick Crime Functional Area and was further supported by Limerick Divisional Roads Policing Unit and Regional Armed Support Unit.
During the course of the operation, four residential properties were searched under Misuse of Drugs legislation which resulted in a small quantity of drugs being seized. A scrambler motorbike was also seized at one of these properties as well as three imitation firearms and two swords.
A total of 29 people were arrested for outstanding bench warrants. All persons were bailed to subsequent court sittings in the coming weeks.
Following a number of multi-agency checkpoints, two vehicles were seized for various offences. One arrest was made on suspicion driving under the influence.
Dog Wardens from Limerick City & County Council conducted enquiries and patrols locally with Garda units.
The Road Safety Authority conducted in excess of 15 vehicle inspections resulting in various appropriate actions.
Personnel from The Road Safety Authority and Limerick City and County Council (Dog Warden). supported Gardaí in the planned operation.
