Gardaí are investigating a single vehicle fatal road traffic collision that occurred on the N21 at Cummeen, Adare, Co. Limerick in the early hours of this morning Sunday 20th September 2026, at approximately 2:40am.
The collision involved a car which struck a tree.
The male driver, aged in his 20s was fatally injured. His body has since been removed from the scene to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick where a post mortem examination will take place in due course.
The two male passengers, (aged in their 20s and an adult teenager) were removed from the scene to University Hospital Limerick. The passenger aged in his 20s remains in a critical condition. The second passenger received non-life threatening injuries.
The road is currently closed for a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to come forward.
Road users who were travelling on the N21 at Cummeen, Adare, Limerick in the early hours of this morning Sunday 20th September 2026 between 2:15am and 2:45am and who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make it available to investigating Gardaí.
