11/09/2026 Update (1) Witness Appeal - Serious Road Traffic Collision, R132 Smithstown, Julianstown, Co. Meath- 15th August 2026

Gardaí are renewing their appeal for witnesses following a serious three vehicle road traffic collision on the R132 at Smithstown, Julianstown, Co. Meath on Saturday 15th August 2026 shortly after 2:00am.

A male (aged in his 50s) was conveyed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda for treatment of serious injuries. He was subsequently pronounced deceased on Friday 4th September 2026.

A Family Liaison Officer (FLO) has been appointed to support the family of the deceased.

The scene was subject to a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

A Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) has been appointed to lead the investigation.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.

Road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the R132 near Smithstown, Julianstown, Co. Meath between 1:30am and 2:30am on Saturday 15th August 2026, are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
