02/09/2026 Update (1) High Impact Search Operation targeting Criminal Activity in Cork City- 2nd September 2026

Gardaí attached to Cork City Garda Division conducted a high impact search operation targeting criminal activity in Cork City today Wednesday 2nd September 2026.

The search operation involved a range of Garda units including the Armed Support Unit, the Dog Unit, Divisional Search Unit, Serious Crime Investigation Units, Community Engagement, Roads Policing, and Scenes of Crime Units.

The multi-agency operation involved Gardaí working alongside partner agencies including Revenue, the Department of Social Protection and the National Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (NSPCA).

Investigating Gardaí conducted searches of six properties in the Mahon area of Cork city.

During the course of the search, Gardaí seized €6000 in cash, €1000 worth of suspected heroin and €600 worth of suspected crack cocaine.

In addition, investigating Gardaí seized electric scramblers, e-scooters, slash hooks, hammers, baseball bats, machetes, swords, slingshots, and 2 caravans.

The NSPCA seized 10 dogs, 1 pony, and 1 horse. All of these animals will be examined by a veterinarian in due course.

A male (aged in his 20s) was arrested and is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 in a Garda Station in the Southern Region.

Investigations are ongoing.
