Commenting on the operation, Assistant Commissioner Roberts, Dublin Metropolitan Region said:

"Today’s Operation Meacán activities targeted the illegal use of Personal Powered Transporters (PPT’s) through enforcement using Uniform and Plain clothes members from across the Dublin region supported by Specialist Regional and National Garda Units. This enforcement took place using pro-active patrols, static traffic checkpoints and intelligence-led operations to ensure a tiered approach to tackling not only those who would use these PPT’s dangerously on our roads, but also to stop those who would use them in the commission of serious crimes such as drug-related intimidation, thefts, assaults and drug dealing in our cities and our communities.”

The operation remains ongoing.
