As part of Operation Thor and the ongoing investigation into a number of burglaries in Co Westmeath, Gardaí this morning, Wednesday, 21st October, arrested a male in Clonmel. He was conveyed to Athlone Garda Station where he is currently detained for questioning under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984. He is the second person to be arrested in connection with this ongoing investigation. Gardai from the divisional crime units and the roads policing units in the Westmeath division have been, and will continue to conduct, rolling checkpoints in rural areas as part of the winter rollout of Operation Thor for the month of October.
