On the morning of the 31st March 2003 a serious assault took place on the female resident during an aggravated burglary of a domestic residence in Kilmacud, South Dublin.
An extensive Garda investigation took place at the time with hundreds of investigative jobs undertaken and over 100 statements taken.
An Garda Síochána have continued to maintain an open investigation into this serious assault. In 2023 a peer review of the investigation was commenced by a fresh investigation team attached to the DMR East Serious Crime Unit under a Senior Investigating Officer.
This morning, Wednesday 7th October 2026, investigating Gardaí have arrested a male (aged in his 60s) in connection with this investigation.
The male is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 in a Garda Station in the Dublin Metropolitan Region.
Investigations are ongoing.
