Update 5: Serious Assault, Athlunkard Street, Limerick City, 17th March 2026

Gardaí continue to investigate a serious assault that occurred on Athlunkard Street in Limerick city on Tuesday, 17th March 2026.

The male (50s), who was injured during the incident was pronounced deceased yesterday evening, Wednesday 25th March 2026 at University Hospital Limerick.

The office of the Coroner, and the State Pathologist have been notified.

A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out at University Hospital Limerick today.

Three adult males have been charged in relation to this investigation and have previously appeared before Court.

Investigations are ongoing.
