Update 3: Court Appearance - Serious Assault, Athlunkard Street, Limerick City, 17th March 2026

One of the men, aged in his 20s, who was arrested on the afternoon of 19th March 2026 in connection with this investigation, has since been charged.

He is due to appear before the current sitting of Limerick District Court today, Friday 20th March 2026 at 10.30am.

The other male remains detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda station in the Limerick Division.

The man (50s), who was injured during the incident remains in a serious condition in University Hospital Limerick.

Investigations are ongoing.
