Issue Date: 27/03/2026

As part of Operation Tara, Gardaí have seized €1.52 million worth of suspected illegal cannabis during a search of a residence in South Dublin on the evening of Thursday 26th March 2026.

During the course of the search under warrant, the Dublin Crime Response Team seized approximately 73 kg of cannabis herb and 10 kg of cannabis resin, with a combined value of approximately €1.52 million.

The drugs seized are now subject to technical analysis by Forensic Science Ireland (FSI).

Two men (aged in their 50’s) have been arrested in connection with the investigation, and are currently detained pursuant to Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996, at Garda Stations in the Dublin Metropolitan Region.

Commenting on the seizures, Acting Assistant Commissioner Dublin Metropolitan Region, Jonathan Roberts said:

"This is yet another example of the relentless efforts by members of An Garda Síochána to target criminality that causes the most harm in our communities.

This seizure of illicit drugs in a specific targeted operation, in addition to a number of other significant seizures in the city centre and across the region in the past number of days demonstrates our commitment to removing harmful drugs from circulation.

An Garda Siochána remains committed to bringing those willing to engage in the supply of illicit drugs before the courts.”

Investigations are ongoing.
