Operation Tara: GNDOCB Seizes Cocaine worth €5.25 million, Two Arrests, Co. Monaghan, 13th March 2026

As part of ongoing investigations targeting organised crime under Operation Tara, personnel attached to the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau supported by the Dublin Crime Response Team conducted an intervention of a number of vehicles and searched a business premise in Co. Monaghan on Friday 13th March 2026.

During the course of the operation, Gardaí seized suspected cocaine with an estimated value of €5.25 million.

One adult male (aged in his 50s) and one adult female (aged in her 40s) were arrested pursuant to Section 72 of the Criminal Justice Act 2006 and are currently detained, pursuant to the provisions of Section 50 of Criminal Justice Act 2007, at Garda Stations in the Monaghan Division.

This operation was supported by the Custom Revenue Service, local Units in Monaghan and international partners from the Belgian Federal Maritime Police.

The seized drugs will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) for analysis.

Investigations are ongoing.
