GNECB Operation Skein – Arrest in South Dublin on 30th March 2026

Issue Date: 31/03/2026

As part of an ongoing investigation into fraud, Gardaí from the Garda National Economic Crime Bureau (GNECB) conducted a search of a residential property in south Dublin yesterday, Monday 30th March 2026.

A woman, aged in her 20s, was arrested and is currently detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007, at a Garda Station in the Dublin Metropolitan Region.

This ongoing investigation relates to the alleged use of fraudulent European passports to launder over €160,000.

Gardaí seized a number of documents of evidential value as well as a car.

As part of Operation Skein, the GNECB continues to work closely with law-enforcement partners across several jurisdictions and is supported in its efforts by Europol and Interpol. This coordinated international approach reflects the scale and sophistication of the criminal network under investigation.

Investigations are ongoing.
