Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision on the N73 near Mitchelstown, Co. Cork, on Sunday 21st June 2026.
Gardaí and emergency services responded to report of the collision involving a car and a motorcycle, that occurred at approximately 1.40pm.
The driver of the motorcycle, a male (aged in his 40s) was pronounced deceased at the scene.
His body has been removed to the mortuary at Cork University Hospital where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.
The coroner has been notified.
The female driver of the car (aged in her 30’s ) was conveyed to Tipperary University Hospital, Clonmel as a precaution.
No other injuries were reported at the time.
The road was subject to technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, and has since reopened.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed this collision to come forward.
Road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the N73 near Mitchelstown, Co. Cork, on Sunday 21st June 2026, between 1.00pm and 2.00pm, are asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.
