Issue Date: 16/06/2026
Since early May 2026, Gardaí in the DMR East Division have undertaken extensive operations under Operation Táirge, an intelligence-led initiative targeting both retail crime and organised retail crime (ORC). Working in close collaboration with local retailers and business groups across southeast Dublin, Gardaí have sustained efforts to identify suspects, initiate prosecutions and bring offenders before the courts. This has included the establishment of a dedicated unit.
As part of this phase of Operation Táirge in DMR East, a total of 41 individuals are expected to appear before Dun Laoghaire District Court on 17th June 2026 to face a range of charges relating to retail theft and associated offences. In addition, fifteen (15) juvenile suspects have been identified, with proceedings initiated through the Youth Diversion Programme.
Chief Superintendent David Kennedy, DMR East, stated: "An Garda Síochána in the DMR East will continue to focus on retail crime using intelligence-led policing to disrupt criminal networks, prevent thefts, and, importantly, support local retailers and businesses.”
Phase two of this local initiative will commence in the coming weeks.
Investigations are ongoing.
