Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene following report of a fatal two-vehicle road traffic collision on the N2 at Edmondstown, Ardee, Co. Louth, today, Wednesday 10th June 2026.
The collision involving a truck and a car occurred at approximately 5:40pm.
The male driver of the car (aged in his 80’s) was pronounced deceased at the scene. His body remains at the scene.
No other injuries were reported at the time.
The coroner has been notified.
The road is currently closed, pending technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
Local diversions are in place.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.
Road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area of Edmondstown, Ardee, Co. Louth, between 5:00pm and 6:00pm today, Wednesday 10th June 2026 are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
