07/06/2026 Update - Operation Tara – Drugs Seizure and Arrests in Cobh, Co. Cork - 6th June 2026

A man in his 30s arrested in connection with this investigation has now been charged and is scheduled to appear before a sitting of Midleton District Court on Monday, 8th June 2026.

The woman in her 20s also detained has been released without charge and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Investigations are ongoing.

Previous Release -

As part of Operation Tara and ongoing investigations targeting the sale and distribution of controlled drugs, Gardaí attached to the Cork North East Divisional Drugs Unit conducted a search of a residential property in the Cobh area of Cork on Saturday, 6th June 2026.

During the course of the search, Gardaí recovered cannabis with an estimated value of approximately €50,000, along with a small quantity of cocaine. Additionally, utensils associated with the mixing and preparation of drugs were also found at the premises.

A male in his 30s and a female in her 20s were arrested in connection with the investigation. Both individuals are currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 at Garda Stations in the Southern Region.

The seized substances will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) for analysis.

Investigations are ongoing.
