Gardaí in Portlaoise are investigating a public order incident that occurred at St. Peter and Paul’s Cemetery, Stradbally Road, Portlaoise, Co Laois, on Sunday 31st May 2026.
Around 1:00pm an incident occurred involving a physical altercation between a number of individuals.
Following the incident, one person (a male in his 40s) is being treated in hospital for injuries believed to be non-life-threatening at this time.
Four males (two aged in their 20s and two juveniles) were arrested on Sunday 31st May 2026 in connection with the investigation, and subsequently charged to appear before a special sitting of Portlaoise District Court this morning, Monday 1st June 2026.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to contact them.
Anyone who was in the area of St. Peter and Paul’s Cemetery, Portlaoise between 12noon and 1.30pm on Sunday 31st May 2026, and who may have any information about the incident is asked to contact investigating Gardaí.
In particular, anyone who was present at the time, with camera footage (including mobile phone and dash-cam footage) is asked to make it available.
