Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision on the R693 near Arigan Bridge, Cooleshal, Freshford, Co. Kilkenny this morning Wednesday 22nd July 2026 at approximately 9:30am.
The collision involved a van and a pedestrian.
The pedestrian (a man in his 30s) was pronounced deceased at the scene. His body has been conveyed to University Hospital Waterford where a port-mortem examination will take place.
The road has since been reopened.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward. Any road users who were travelling from Freshford towards Kilkenny between the hours of 09:00am and 09:30am this morning and who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
