Yesterday - Wednesday 15th July 2026 - as part of Operation Tara targeting the sale and supply of controlled drugs, Gardaí in Co. Laois arrested a man and seized suspected illegal cannabis and cocaine with a total value of approximately €122,400, during the course of a search of a residence.
Laois Drugs Unit assisted by the Laois Detective Unit carried out the search under warrant in Stradbally, Co. Laois.
During the course of the search, approximately €85,000 cannabis herb, €35,000 cocaine and €2,400 cannabis resin were seized.
A man (aged in his 40’s) was arrested in connection with the investigation and is currently detained pursuant to Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at a Garda station in the Co. Offaly area.
The seized substances are subject to analysis by Forensic Science Ireland (FSI).
Investigations are ongoing.
