Gardaí are appealing for witnesses in relation to a serious assault that occurred on Foley Street, Dublin 1 at approximately 23:40 hours on the night of Monday, 6th July 2026.
The man, aged in his 30s, was taken to The Mater Misericordiae University Hospital at 2:00am to be treated for serious injuries and he remains in a critical condition.
A man, aged in his 30s has since been arrested and is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a Garda station in Dublin.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to come forward.
Anyone who was in the vicinity of Foley Street, Talbot Street and James Joyce Street between 23:30 and 2am on the night of Monday 6th July into the morning of Tuesday 7th July, 2026 and who may have camera footage - including dash-cam footage - is asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.
