Gardaí are investigating an aggravated burglary that occurred at a domestic residence in St Peter’s Terrace, Athlone, Co. Westmeath on Thursday 2nd July 2026 at approximately 4:00am.
Today, Friday 3rd July 2026 Gardaí arrested two adult males (aged in their 20s) in connection with this investigation.
The two males are detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 in a Garda Station in Co. Westmeath.
An adult male (aged in his late teens) and an adult female (aged in her 50s) of the domestic residence were conveyed to Portiuncula University Hospital for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life threatening at the time.
A technical examination of the scene was conducted.
Investigations are ongoing.
