Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a road traffic collision at Lower Main Street, Letterkenny, Co Donegal, today, Thursday 15th January 2026.
The collision, involving a car and a male pedestrian, occurred at approximately 1:00pm.
The pedestrian (aged in his 80’s) was conveyed to Letterkenny University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
No other injuries were reported at the time.
The scene is preserved for technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. The road remains closed at this time and local diversions are in place.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.
Any road users, who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 12:15pm and 1:15pm on Thursday 15th January 2026 are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
