Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene following report of a fatal single-vehicle road traffic incident involving a car, that occurred on the L4007 at Maudlin’s Cross, near New Ross, Co. Wexford, this afternoon, Tuesday 20th January 2026.
The incident occurred at approximately 1.10pm.
The male driver of the car (aged in his 60’s) was pronounced deceased at the scene. His body has been removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Waterford where a post-mortem examination will be carried out in due course.
The coroner has been notified.
No other injuries were reported at the time.
The road was closed for technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, and has since reopened.
Any road users, who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the L4007 near New Ross, Co. Wexford, between 12.30pm and 1.30pm on Tuesday 20th January 2026 are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
