As part of Operation Tara, Gardaí from Cork City Divisional Drugs Unit have arrested two men, and seized €700,000 of suspected illegal cocaine, €60,000 cannabis and over €40,000 cash, during the course of searches in the Douglas, Cork area on Tuesday 30th December 2025.
The two men (aged in their 30’s and 40’s) were detained pursuant to Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996, at Garda stations in the Co. Cork area.
Follow-up searches were conducted by the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) in the Dublin 14 area, on Wednesday 31st December 2025, and an additional 0.5 kg of suspected cannabis with an approximate value of €9,000, along with €4,000 cash, were seized.
The seized drugs are subject to analysis by Forensic Science Ireland.
Both of the arrested men have since been charged, and are expected to appear before a special sitting of Cork District Court tomorrow morning, Friday 2nd January 2026 at approximately 10.30am.
Investigations are ongoing.
