Operation Tara- Arrests and Seizure of Drugs Worth Over €166,000, a Firearm & a Knife, Killarney, Co. Kerry, 10th January 2026

During the course of an intelligence-led operation, the Kerry Divisional Drugs Unit seized over €165,000 worth of cannabis, €1,300 of LSD, a suspected firearm and a knife on Saturday 10th January 2026.

As part of the operation, Gardaí stopped and searched a vehicle in Killarney at approximately 2:50pm and seized €5,000 worth of suspected cannabis, a knife and a number of electronic devices of evidential value.

Two males (aged in their 30s and 40s) and one female (aged in her 30s) were arrested and are currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at Garda Stations in the Kerry Division.

During follow-up searches at a number of locations in Killarney, Gardaí seized over €160,000 worth of suspected cannabis, over €1,300 worth of suspected LSD, a suspected firearm, electronic devices, weighing scales and packaging equipment.

The seized drugs will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.

Investigations are ongoing.
