Joint Operation, Gardaí and Revenue Customs Service Seize €10,120,000 of cannabis, Friday 30th January 2026

On Friday the 30th of January 2026, as a result of ongoing investigations targeting organised crime activity under Operation TARA, a joint operation was conducted by the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau and the Revenue Customs Service.

This operation involved the search of a premises in the Co. Louth area and resulted in the seizure of 506kgs of Cannabis, with an estimated value of €10,120,000.

Three males, two in their 30’s and one in his 50’s, were arrested pursuant to Section 72 of the Criminal Justice Act 2006 in relation to facilitating and enhancing drug trafficking activities for an organised crime group.

They are currently detained, pursuant to the provisions of Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007, at Garda stations in Counties Louth and Dublin.

Investigations are ongoing.
