Garda National Immigration Bureau removes non-Irish national sex offenders from the State – 21st January 2026

An Garda Síochána through the Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB) carried out Operation Moonridge in 2025 which identified and deported non-Irish nationals convicted of sexual crimes.

The operation involves identifying and locating convicted sex offenders of interest to GNIB for consideration for an EU Removal Order or deportation.

As part of this operation to date, a total of 25 sex offenders have now been removed from the State.

This consists of 14 non-EU nationals and 11 EU nationals who are now all subject to exclusion periods from Ireland.

An Garda Síochána continues to work closely with the Department of Justice in implementing immigration policy.
