Witness Appeal: Serious Injury Road Traffic Collision, N2, Funshog, Collon, Co. Louth- 7th February 2026
Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a serious road traffic collision on the N2 near Funshog, Collon, Co. Louth today, Saturday 7th February 2026.
The collision involving a car and a pedestrian occurred shortly after 3:00am.
The pedestrian, a male (aged in his 40s) was treated at the scene and removed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda for treatment of serious injuries. He has subsequently been conveyed to Beaumont Hospital where he remains in critical condition.
The driver of the car, a female (aged in her 20s) was uninjured.
Garda Forensic Collision Investigators attended the scene and conducted a technical examination. The road is expected to reopen shortly.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision or were in the area of the N2 near Funshog, Collon, Co. Louth to contact them.
Any road users or pedestrians who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were in the area between 2:40am and 3:20am are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
