Update: Fatal Road Traffic Incident, North Earl Street, Dublin 1, 5th February 2026

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a fatal road traffic incident involving a bus on North Earl Street, Dublin 1, on Thursday 5th February 2026 shortly after 12:35pm.

A male pedestrian, aged in his 80s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Coroner has been notified.

A second male pedestrian (20s) is being treated in hospital for serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the bus (female, 50s) and a female pedestrian (30s) are being treated in hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Restrictions are in place around the scene, which has been preserved for examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Local traffic and pedestrian diversions are in place.

A Senior Investigative Officer (SIO) has been appointed to lead the investigation from an incident room at Store Street Garda Station.

A Family Liaison Officer (FLO) has been appointed to the family of the deceased.

An Garda Síochána requests that if anyone has photographs or video of the incident to not share them but to make them available to the Garda investigation team at Store Street Garda Station.

Anyone who was in the area between 12:15pm and 1:00pm and who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) is asked to make that footage available to investigating Gardaí.
