Gardaí at Tallaght and Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, have seized drugs with an estimated street value in excess of €190,000 and arrested one individual following a joint operation conducted on Thursday, 27th August 2026.
As part of Operation Tara and ongoing investigations targeting the sale and supply of controlled drugs in the Tallaght area, members of the Tallaght Drugs Unit, assisted by the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, stopped a vehicle travelling on the N7. During the course of a search, Gardaí discovered a large quantity of cocaine with an estimated value of €100,000 concealed in the car.
The driver, male in his 40s, was arrested and detained at Tallaght Garda Station under the provisions of drug trafficking legislation. He remains in Garda custody.
In follow-up searches at a residential address in the Old Bawn area of Tallaght, Gardaí recovered further quantities of controlled drugs, including cocaine (valued at €29,890), crystal methamphetamine (€47,250), cannabis (€9,520) and oxycodone (€7,000). Cash totalling €15,320 was also seized.
All of the drugs seized are subject to analysis by FSI.
Investigations are ongoing.
