Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a serious injury road traffic collision that occurred at Glebe Street, Ballinrobe, Co. Mayo on Thursday 20th August, 2026 at approximately 4.20pm.
Gardaí and emergency services responded to report of the collision, involving a car and a pedestrian.
The female pedestrian (aged in her 80’s) was conveyed from the scene to Mayo General Hospital, Castlebar for treatment of serious injuries, and remains in a critical condition.
No other injuries were reported at the time.
The scene has been preserved for technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
The road is is currently closed with local diversions in place.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.
Road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam footage and were travelling in the area of the N84 / Glebe Street, Ballinrobe, Co. Mayo between 3.50pm and 4.50pm on Thursday 20th August, 2026 are asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.
