As part of ongoing investigations targeting the sale and supply of controlled drugs in the region, Gardaí attached to the Galway Divisional Drugs Unit conducted searches of two residences in Galway on Saturday 15th August 2026, seizing a total of €233,000 of suspected illegal cannabis.
During the course of the operation, Gardaí conducted a search under warrant of a residence in Roscam, Galway. Cannabis herb with an approximate value of €122,000 was seized.
During a follow-up search under warrant of a residence in the Castlepark, Galway area, a further €111,000 of Cannabis herb was seized.
Two males (one aged in his 40’s and one in his 50’s) were arrested in connection with the investigation and are currently detained pursuant to section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug trafficking) Act 1996, at a Garda Station in the North Western Region.
The seized substances will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) for analysis.
