Today, Tuesday 4th August 2026 as part of an intelligence-led operation involving the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB), Offaly Divisional Drug Unit and Revenue Customs Service, approximately 5.5 kilograms of suspected herbal cannabis was seized in County Offaly.
A further 2 kilograms of suspected herbal cannabis was seized by An Garda Síochána in a follow-up search. The total value of the seizures is €150,000.
One male (aged in his 30s) was arrested and is currently detained under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 in a Garda Station in Co. Offaly.
The seized drugs will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) for analysis.
