Update- Arrest: Fatal Hit and Run Road Traffic Collision, Batterstown, Ballivor, Co. Meath, 12th September 2025

Gardaí continue to investigate the fatal road traffic collision that occurred on Friday 12th September 2025 in Batterstown, Ballivor, Co. Meath. A male cyclist, aged in his 80’s, was discovered unresponsive, and removed to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown where he was subsequently pronounced deceased.

Today, September 17th 2025, as part of the investigation, Gardaí arrested a man in his 40s. This male is currently detained at a Garda Station in the Eastern Region under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 and can be detained for up to 24 hours. A vehicle has also been recovered.

Investigating Gardaí at Trim Garda Station continue to appeal to the public for information.

  Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area of Batterstown, Ballivor, Co. Meath, between 9.30am and 10.00am on Friday 12th September 2025, are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
