An Garda Síochána is continuing to investigate all of the circumstances of the disappearance and current whereabouts of a 7-year-old boy, in Donabate, Co. Dublin. On the evening of the 1st September 2025, investigating Gardaí took control of an area of open ground in Donabate, Co. Dublin which continues to be the subject of an ongoing search. A UAS (Unmanned Aircraft System) Geographic zone has been in place over the search site at Donabate since the 2nd September 2025 and continues to be in place. Yesterday An Garda Síochána detected a UAS flying over the search site. The operator was located and informed An Garda Síochána that he was operating the UAS on behalf of a media outlet. This breach of the Geographic Zone is under investigation. Today another UAS has been observed over the search site and this breach of the Geographic Zone is under investigation. Geographic Zones are similar to TRAs (Temporary Restricted Airspaces), breaches of both are investigated by the Irish Aviation Authority and An Garda Síochána. An Garda Síochána again appeals to the media to provide Gardaí with the space and time to carry out this search operation sensitively and sympathetically for everybody involved. Any images which may have been captured by a UAS of the search site should not be used by any media as they have been obtained in breach of a UAS Geographic Zone. For operational reasons An Garda Síochána continues, not to be in a position to identify the boy or his family at this time. Details of UAS Geographic Zones are published on an interactive map on the IAA website and at the following link direction-on-uas-geo-zones---u-04-issue-29-2.pdf An FAQ on Geographical Zones can be read on the IAA website. |
