Fatal Road Traffic Incident, Ballycotton, Co. Cork - 18th September 2025

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a fatal road traffic incident in Ballycotton, Co. Cork this afternoon, Thursday 18th September 2025. The incident involving a heavy goods vehicle occurred on the L3633 Church Road at approximately 3:30pm.

The driver of the vehicle, a male in his 40s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. His body has since been removed to Cork University Hospital where a post-mortem examination is due to take place. The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) was notified and also attended the scene.

The L3633 Church Road remains closed pending completion of a technical examination by Forensic Collision Investigators. Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to contact them.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 3:00pm and 3:45pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
