Arrest and seizure of weapons, Ballinasloe, Co Galway, 8th September 2025

Gardaí received a report of a man brandishing a weapon at River Street, Ballinasloe, Co. Galway at approximately 8:40am today, Monday 8th of September 2025.
Upon arrival at the scene, Gardaí searched a car and seized a machete, hatchet and knife.

A man, aged in his 20s, was arrested at the scene and is currently being detained at a station in the Garda North Western

Region under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Investigations are ongoing.
