Update (2): Fatal Road Traffic Collision, Ardee Road, Dundalk, Co. Louth. 15th November, 2025.

Gardaí in Dundalk continue to investigate all of the circumstances of a Fatal Road Traffic Collision that occurred on the R3168, Ardee Road, Dundalk, Co. Louth last night Saturday 15th November, 2025 shortly after 9pm.

The collision occurred on the L3168 in the townland of Gibstown, Dundalk involving two vehicles a Volkswagen Golf and a Toyota Landcruiser.

5 young adults, occupants of the Volkswagen Golf, are deceased as a result of this Road Traffic Collision. 

With the permission of the families An Garda Síochána can confirm the names of the deceased as:

Chloe McGee, age 23 years, Carickmacross

Alan McCluskey, age 23 years, Drumconrath

Dylan Commins, age 23 years, Ardee

Shay Duffy, age 21 years, Carrickmacross

Chloe Hipson, age 21 years, Lanarkshire, Scotland

Family Liaison Officers have been appointed to each of the families to provide support and An Garda Síochána will keep the families updated as to the course of the ongoing investigation.

A 6th occupant of the Volkswagen Golf, a male in his 20s, continues to receive medical treatment in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda for non-life threatening injuries.

The occupants of the Toyota Landcruiser a male and a female in their 20s were also taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda for medical treatment for non-life threatening injuries.

A section of the L3168 remains closed between the N52 and the R171, pending a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and Divisional Scenes of Crime Unit.  Local traffic diversions remain in place.

An Garda Síochána have notified the local Coroner’s Office and the Office of the State Pathologist.  Examination of the scene and removal of the deceased will be carried out under the advice and supervision of the State Pathologist and Post Mortems will be carried out over the coming days.

An incident room has been established at Dundalk Garda Station and an investigation has commenced under a Senior Investigating Officer.

• to any person with any information on this road traffic collision to contact the investigation team at Dundalk Garda Station. 

• to any person who was on the L3168 between 8.30pm and 9.15pm, last night Saturday 15th November 2025 to contact the Garda Investigation Team.

• to any person who might have any camera footage or images from the L3168, Gibstown area between 8.30pm and 9.15pm, last night Saturday 15th November 2025 to give that footage or images to the investigation team at Dundalk Garda Station.
