Gardaí in the Eastern Region initiated a full investigation surrounding the circumstances of the alleged unauthorised removal of a substantial quantity of controlled drugs from a Garda Station in January, 2024. Today,
Wednesday 19th November 2025 Detective Gardaí from the Eastern Region, supported by the Garda Anti-Corruption Unit, Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, and Regional Garda Cyber Crime Bureau carried out a number of searches and arrests in relation to organised crime within the Eastern Region.
Members of the Garda Anti-Corruption Unit arrested a member of An Garda Síochána who is currently detained under organised crime legislation.
Gardaí from the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau investigating related alleged offences have arrested five people (not members of An Garda Síochána) today.
One male in his 30s and a female in her 40s are currently detained at Garda stations in the Midlands.
A male in his 40s remains in custody at a Garda Station in the east of the country for alleged related corruption offences.
Two males in their 40s and 50s who were arrested and detained for alleged related drug trafficking have since been released pending files to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Investigations which are being led by a Senior Investigating Officer from the Eastern Region are continuing at this time.
