Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision involving a car and a pedestrian, at Dublin Road (R135), Ashbourne, Co. Meath, today, Saturday 24th May 2025.
Gardaí and emergency services responded to reports of the collision, which occurred at approximately 7.10pm.
The pedestrian (a woman aged in her 60’s) was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Her body has since been removed to the mortuary at Our Lady’s Hospital Navan, where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.
The male driver and passenger of the car (aged in their 20’s) were conveyed to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown, for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life-threatening at this time.
The road is currently closed, pending technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, with local diversions in place. It is expected to remain closed until mid-afternoon tomorrow, Sunday 25th May 2025.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward.
Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 6.30pm and 7.30pm today, Saturday 24th May 2025, are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
