As part of an ongoing investigation into human trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation and forced criminality, Gardaí attached to the Human Trafficking Investigation and Co-Ordination Unit (HTICU) at the Garda National Protective Services Bureau (GNPSB) arrested a man (50s) this morning, Monday 9th of June, 2025 in Co. Monaghan.
The male was arrested on suspicion of human trafficking offences.
He is currently detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a Garda Station in the north eastern region.
This Garda investigation is being assisted by colleagues in Europol, Eurojust, the Police Service of Northern Ireland, the National Crime Agency, the Latvian State Police and Latvian prosecutors.
An Garda Síochána appeal to anyone who may be the victim of human trafficking for sexual exploitation to come forward and speak with them at any Garda Station in person or by phone, or by calling the freephone Garda Confidential Line: 1800 666 111.
Anyone that has information related to human trafficking for sexual or labour exploitation is encouraged to contact Gardaí.
