Update (1) - Fatal Road Traffic Collision, N2, Castleblayney, Co Monaghan, 18th December 2025

Gardaí continue to investigate a fatal road traffic collision involving a HGV and a car on the N2 at Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan on Thursday, 18th December 2025.

The road remains closed at this time while efforts are ongoing to safely remove the obstructing vehicle.

The man in his 50s arrested in connection with this collision has since been charged and is due to appear before a special sitting of Monaghan District Court at 7:00pm this evening, Friday 19th December 2025. Investigations are ongoing.
