Witness Appeal - Aggravated Burglary, Mayfield, Cork City, 11th August 2025

Gardaí have arrested a man following an aggravated burglary that occurred at a residential property in the Lagan Grove area of Mayfield, Cork City, this morning, Monday 11th August 2025, at approximately 12:40am.

Three men entered the residence, armed with implements, and confronted the occupants, before fleeing.

Gardaí on patrol in the area responded to the incident.

A male (aged in his 30’s), was arrested at the scene and detained pursuant to Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a Garda Station in the Co. Cork area.

One of the occupants, a man (also aged in his 30’s), was conveyed to Cork University Hospital for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life-threatening at this time.

A technical examination of the scene has been conducted by Gardaí.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with any information regarding this incident to come forward.   Any road users or pedestrians who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were in the Lagan Grove area of Mayfield, Cork City, between midnight on Sunday 10th August 2025 and 1:00am on Monday 11th August 2025 are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
