Operation Tara – Drug Seizures and Arrests in County Louth 28th–29th April 2025

As part of Operation Tara and ongoing investigations targeting drug distribution networks and associated criminal activity, Gardaí have seized a substantial quantity of drugs and arrested two individuals during an operation in County Louth on 28th April 2025.

Shortly after 11:00 PM, Gardaí from the Divisional Drugs Unit in Drogheda stopped a van in Ardee, recovering cocaine valued at over €200,000.

The driver, a male in his 40s, was arrested and taken to a Garda station in County Louth, where he is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984. In a follow-up search of a residential property in Ardee in the early hours of Tuesday, 29th April 2025, Gardaí recovered cannabis valued at over €190,000.

A second male, aged in his 50s, was arrested and is also detained at a Garda Station in County Louth under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984. All of the drugs seized are subject to analysis by Forensic Science Ireland (FSI).

The investigation is ongoing and further updates will follow.
