Update 3 - Murder Investigation – Tina Satchwell, Grattan Street, Youghal, Co. Cork

Statement of Superintendent Adrian Gamble, Midleton Garda Station

An investigation team based here in Midleton Garda Station continue to investigate all the circumstances surrounding the murder of Tina Satchwell.

Tina was reported as missing from her home on Grattan Street, Youghal, Co. Cork in March, 2017.

A Garda technical examination at that residence is continuing and a second search at a location between Youghal and Killeagh, Co. Cork has been completed.

Yesterday evening, the Garda Technical Bureau team, discovered what are believed to be human remains.

The Coroner was notified. The Assistant State Pathologist, Dr. Bolster has attended the scene this morning.

The human remains have been removed to Cork University Hospital where they will be subject to further examination including DNA analysis.

Earlier today, a male in his 50s, was arrested on suspicion of murder, and is currently detained under the provisions of Section 4 Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda station in Co. Cork.

The family of Tina Satchwell continue to be updated on the progress of this investigation by an appointed family liaison officer and my thoughts and the thoughts of the investigation team continue to be with them at this difficult time.
