On Monday, 27th February, 2023, as part of Operation Tara, an intelligence led operation targeting those involved in organised criminal activity in the Kildare area was conducted by personnel attached to Revenue Customs Service, the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB), and the Kildare Divisional Drug Unit.
In the course of the operation a premises was searched under warrant in Kildare where approximately 3.5 kilograms of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of €70,000 (analysis pending) was seized.
A woman aged in her 40s was arrested by investigating Gardaí and is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at Kildare Garda Station.
Investigations are ongoing.
